Preweighed Filters for European Standard EN 872- Determination of Suspended Solids in Water
ProWeigh® ProWeigh filters, from Environmental Express, offer a timesaving, convenient way to perform Total Suspended Solids (TSS). ProWeigh filters meet or exceed all requirements found in the 19th edition of Standard Methods for filters and their preparation for methods 2540D and 2540E and European Standard EN 872 – Water quality-Determination of suspended solids- Method by filtration through glass fiber filters February 1996. ProWeigh filters are a duplication of the required tasks for TSS, not a new test method. Over 5,000 ProWeigh filters are used every day! |
- PreWashed
All Proweigh filters are prewashed with three aliquots of deionized water while undergoing vacuum filtration. The filters are then oven dried at 105oC and then stored in a desiccating cabinet. - PreWeighed
The filters are weighed robotically to the nearest 0.1mg with certified electronic balances. This weighing is performed in a climate-controlled area to minimize any variations due to environmental conditions. - PreLabeled
The filter weights are printed on heat resistant Mylar labels that are affixed to 70mm aluminum pans. A unique sample number and the filter weight are printed on the label. The weight appears in text and a 3 of 9 bar code.
ProWeighs for Volatile Solids
These ProWeigh filters are recommended when fixed or volatile solids are of interest. After rinsing, they are heated to 550oC in a muffle furnace to drive off any volatile materials. Then, they are desiccated, weighed to the nearest 0.1 milligram and quality checked for accuracy.
DoubleWeight Filters
These ProWeighs are 100% quality tested to double guarantee their weight stability. After the initial weighing and labelling, each DoubleWeigh filter is redried, re-desiccated and reweighed to insure their weight stability to within 0.4 milligrams.
Other size filters can be special ordered, such as 50mm and 110mm.

Each ProWeigh filter is washed, under vacuum, three
times with 20ml aliquots of de-ionized water. |
Filter drying in horizontal flow mechanical ovens
insures uniform drying with no dead spots. |
Cooling in a desiccators provides moisture free, stable
filter weights. |
All ProWeigh filters are weighed on certified, electronic
analytical balances. |
